The color systems, spectral composition, and light intensity developed for lighting equipment used in livestock facilities (agriculture) are designed to ensure the overall well-being of animals, regulate their activity, and reduce unnecessary stress. To this end, lighting systems for agriculture are used—carefully selected wavelengths whose effects are confirmed by research and positively impact production quality and efficiency.
Given that animals perceive light very differently from humans and are capable of detecting much higher frequency levels, the LED light source, as well as the power supply and control system, must meet specific requirements to ensure their safety
Designing LED lighting for livestock facilities is a particularly demanding task due to the extremely harsh environmental conditions. The presence of aggressive vapors and high temperatures are just a few of the challenges a professional design team must face. Furthermore, the LED system must meet the highest protection ratings for ingress protection (IP) and mechanical impact resistance (IK), due to sanitation procedures and frequent, direct contact with animals.
Drawing on many years of experience working with a leading manufacturer of livestock housing equipment, we have developed a system featuring predefined and fully programmable lighting schedules for a wide range of animal species and housing types. Its benefits and reliability have been recognized by farmers across Europe for years. We believe that our solutions help create the ideal environment for animals at every stage of their lives. Let’s discuss what we can do for your project.

Smart LED lighting system for livestock facilities.
Creating a complete LED system: a programmable control system and lighting fixtures, covering mechanics, optics, lighting parameters, and functionality, supporting the well-being and biological rhythms of animals, and optimizing operating and maintenance costs.
Solution:
Programmable master controller, slave controller, a set of external sensors measuring physical quantities, a complete multi-channel LED lighting fixture, along with a housing ensuring durability and resistance to harmful factors present in the application environment (dust, ammonia, urea, moisture, high temperature).
The development of the LED system concept was based on R&D activities and testing of existing solutions, as well as on-site visits by our engineers to the application environment: chicken farms and cattle barns. Based on the research conducted, the system specifications were developed to incorporate many essential and advanced features while maintaining intuitive operation for personnel with varying levels of technical expertise. The system operates in several modes: manual, automatic, predefined, and as a 0-10V signal converter. It allows for the programming of advanced lighting schemes and sequences tailored to the type of livestock or breeding operation. Up to 4 lighting lines can be connected to each controller, and up to 32 LED fixtures in each line. Thanks to digital control, the entire installation is synchronized, ensuring that every lamp shines exactly the same. Additionally, we have implemented many interesting features, including the ability to calibrate and balance the brightness of a selected fixture or the entire LED line, a real-time clock and an alternative one, setting brightness levels and dimming/brightening times, inspection functions, setting lighting ratios relative to channels, and more. The LED fixture was designed from the ground up for this purpose, taking into account the mechanics of the housing—which is resistant to toxic application environments—heat management (thanks to advanced thermal simulations), the optical system, and, above all, the multi-channel LED module. The light spectrum and wavelengths were selected to meet the specific needs of the animals, which we consulted with scientific institutions and the Zootechnical Institute in Warsaw.
As an external accessory, we have implemented an advanced light sensor that measures parameters at the bedding level and provides feedback to our control system. The system then autonomously adjusts the light level and spectrum to the desired settings. This feature compensates for the impact of factors prevalent in livestock facilities on the lighting fixtures and contributes to energy efficiency.
